When done right, a garage becomes more than storage. It becomes a statement.
The ceiling is the largest surface in most garages, and it is the one most often ignored. A stained drywall ceiling with exposed wiring sets the tone for the whole room, and not in a good way. Space Ceiling approaches the garage like any other interior: start overhead, get the light right, and the rest of the room follows.
We work alongside Lux Garages, who handle the cabinetry, flooring, and fit-out, while we take care of the stretch ceiling and integrated lighting. The result is a garage that works as hard as you do and looks like it belongs in the rest of the house.
Start With the Ceiling
A stretch ceiling gives the garage a clean, finished surface in a single plane. No taping, no mudding, no paint flaking in the cold. The membrane clips into a perimeter track, so wiring, pipes, and ductwork above it stay accessible without tearing anything open. For a room that usually gets the leftovers, it is a proper finish.
Lighting That Works as Hard as the Room Does
Garage lighting has to do two jobs: bright, even light for working on the car, and something warmer when the garage becomes a place to spend time. That calls for layers, not just a couple of bare bulbs.
Primary lighting
Space Ceiling integrates LED lighting directly into the stretch ceiling. Panels or linear runs wash the room evenly, without glare. Dimmable drivers let you bring the level down from task brightness to a background glow, and color temperature can shift from a neutral white for working to something warmer for the evening.
Secondary and accent lighting
Pot lights placed to accent the cars, undercabinet strips at the workbench, and a low nighttime setting that keeps the room usable without full brightness. If the garage is purely a workshop, one well-planned layer may be enough, but most of our clients end up using the room for more than they expected.
The Garage as a Lounge
A luxury garage is not just about storage; it is about creating a space that reflects how you live. Some clients want a showroom for the cars. Others want a retreat, a clean and quiet room away from the house. The ceiling and lighting do most of the heavy lifting here: a dark, even ceiling with dimmed perimeter light turns a concrete box into somewhere you would actually spend an evening.
Smart film on the windows adds privacy at the touch of a switch and keeps the street from looking in on the collection. It is the same switchable-film technology used in offices and bathrooms, applied to the garage.
The Rest of the Room
Once the ceiling and lighting are sorted, the fit-out falls into place. Our partners at Lux Garages handle this side of the project:
Layout
Zone the room: parking and movement, storage, workspace, and AV, so the cars can park without crowding the workbench. A functional layout is what separates a garage that works from one that just holds things.
Cabinets and power
Custom cabinetry with integrated power, overhead storage, and undercabinet lighting on motion sensors. Plan the electrical early for EV charging, workbench tools, and compressors, and keep it discreet with power integrated into the cabinetry or retractable reels, so you are not looking at wires and clutter.
Floors
Epoxy floors: seamless, chemical and oil resistant, UV stable. Or interlocking tile systems like Swisstrax. Every floor installation should start with a building envelope inspection covering drainage, freezing risks, and slab stability. That is what keeps the warranty intact.
Audio and visual
Good sound and a wall-mounted display turn the garage into a retreat. Stereo or surround audio with discreetly placed speakers, pre-run cabling in the walls, and subwoofers tucked out of sight. Game nights and race days from your own showroom.
Whether you are building a showroom for your vehicles or a workshop that happens to look good, start with the ceiling and the light. Talk to Space Ceiling about the overhead work, and Lux Garages for the fit-out below it.
Your garage is more than a utility room. It is a canvas for expression, precision, and lifestyle.
