Some of the most interesting projects begin with people who are curious about new materials, new technology and what might be possible beyond a standard solution.
I first met Michael Anderson a few years ago in a somewhat unexpected way. What immediately stood out was how interested he was in learning about new products and understanding what could be done differently. We met, discussed specialty ceiling systems, lighting and different architectural possibilities, and those conversations eventually developed into several real projects together.
When Michael first learned about Space Ceiling, he wanted to understand more than just what a stretch ceiling was. He was interested in what the systems could actually do and where they could create something different inside a project.
We discussed stretch ceilings, integrated perimeter lighting, fiber optic star ceilings, reflective finishes and other possibilities that could become part of the architecture rather than simply another decorative product.
That interest eventually turned into real collaboration on several unique projects.
The best projects often start with someone asking a simple question: what else is possible?
Space Ceiling on working with HAUS Interiors
Custom Kids Room · Calgary
One of the projects we completed together was a custom kids room where the ceiling became an important part of the overall interior.
Space Ceiling installed a white stretch ceiling with fiber optic stars, allowing the ceiling to stay bright and clean during the day while transforming into a star-filled feature when the fiber optic system is switched on.
We also incorporated integrated perimeter lighting around the ceiling. The indirect light creates another layer of illumination and gives the room a completely different atmosphere depending on how the lighting is used.

Another collaboration took us in a completely different direction at the Springbank Luxury Basement .
Here the design called for something dramatic, sophisticated and reflective.
Space Ceiling installed a glossy black stretch ceiling, creating a mirror-like surface that adds depth to the room and reflects the lighting and surrounding interior.
It shows how different the same system can look from one project to another. In the kids room, the ceiling is bright and playful. In the basement, it becomes a darker reflective architectural feature.

After working with Michael, I also had the opportunity to understand more about the way HAUS Interiors approaches its projects.
What stands out to me is the willingness to explore products and solutions that may not be familiar yet, while still making sure they fit the overall design of the space.
That matters with specialty ceiling systems because the work often involves coordination between the designer, general contractor, electrician and specialist installer.
What I appreciate about Michael is his interest in understanding new products before deciding where they might add real value to a project.
