Government projects — hospitals, schools, libraries, daycares and public buildings — ask more of a ceiling than most interiors do. The finish has to stand up to heavy use, coordinate with lighting, sprinklers, HVAC and speakers, and satisfy the architects, designers and contractors running the job. That is the kind of work Space Ceiling’s commercial ceiling systems are built for.
What institutional spaces need from a ceiling
In clinical spaces, light quality affects how patients and staff experience the room. In schools and libraries, acoustic control shapes how a space works. In daycares, surfaces need to be easy to keep clean. A stretch ceiling clips into a perimeter track mounted on the walls — no taping, no sanding, no paint — and wiring and services stay accessible above the membrane. Printed visuals, backlit translucent panels, acoustic backing and antibacterial membranes can all be detailed into the same ceiling.
Completed institutional work in Calgary
Rockyview Hospital Prostate Cancer Centre, Calgary

Space Ceiling installed 22 backlit ceiling boxes across the Prostate Cancer Centre — even, glare-free illumination with a printed sky visual, in clinical spaces where light quality matters.
Calgary church dome

For a Calgary church dome, Space Ceiling installed a printed sky visual on Ecophon translucent fabric with backlit LEDs — the dome’s ceiling reads as a luminous sky and part of the architecture, not an applied finish. More completed work is in our project gallery.
Space Ceiling’s institutional and public-sector clients in Alberta include Rockyview Hospital’s Prostate Cancer Centre and CEFA Northland Daycare.
Coordinating ceiling work on public projects
On institutional jobs the ceiling is one trade among many. We coordinate with architects, designers and contractors so the ceiling build-up is detailed around the building’s lighting, HVAC, sprinklers and speakers before installation starts. The membrane installs below the existing structure, so in most cases there is no demolition — and the finished surface has no seams to crack and never needs repainting.
